RDA issues show-cause notices to two housing schemes over violations
RAWALPINDI, Sep 15 (APP):The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has issued show-cause notices to the owners of Taj Residencia and Saffron City housing schemes over alleged violations of approved plans and rules governing private housing schemes.
The action was taken on the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Director General RDA Salman Ghani as part of intensified enforcement against illegal and unauthorised housing schemes and their extensions in RDA-controlled areas.
According to the RDA spokesperson, the Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate issued a notice to the owner of Taj Residencia for allegedly publicising and booking plots in blocks/sectors, including Lotus, Cosmos and Blue Bell, which were not part of the layout plan approved by the RDA.
The alleged unauthorised extension was located in Mouza Kak and Sikihpur, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi, and had been declared illegal by the RDA.
Similarly, a show-cause notice was issued to the management of Saffron City Housing Scheme for allegedly marketing, advertising and selling/booking plots without obtaining the requisite NOC/sanction from the RDA.
The spokesperson said 2,424 kanals of Taj Residencia and 882.85 kanals of Saffron City had been approved by the RDA.
He advised citizens to verify the approval status and details of housing schemes through the official RDA website before making any investment or purchasing plots.
The notices stated that publicity, advertisement and booking of plots in any housing or building project prior to approval constituted a violation of the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976 and the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Scheme Rules, 2021.
The owner of Taj Residencia was directed to immediately stop the alleged violations, restore the scheme in accordance with the RDA-approved layout plan and submit a reply within seven days of receipt of the notice. Failure to comply could lead to further legal action under the relevant laws and rules without any further notice.
The RDA had also written to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi, Chairman IESCO, General Manager SNGPL, General Manager PTCL, District Collector and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), seeking information/action regarding alleged illegal advertisements of private housing schemes on social media.
The spokesperson said some private owners/developers were allegedly misrepresenting that their schemes had obtained NOCs from the RDA.
The Authority would continue enforcement against illegal and unauthorised housing schemes to protect public interest and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the spokesperson added.
