Governor KP stresses effective migration policies for safe, legal overseas employment
ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday stressed the need for effective policymaking to ensure safe, orderly and regular migration.
He said transparency and institutional reforms in the migration system were the need of the hour.
Addressing the first Parliamentary Dialogue on Migration Governance in Pakistan at Parliament House, the Governor said Parliament had a key role in improving migration governance and formulating effective policies.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, federal ministers and members of Parliament attended the dialogue.
Governor Kundi said overseas Pakistanis were making a significant contribution to the country’s economy and underscored the need to create greater public awareness and expand employment opportunities to curb illegal migration.
He said migrants often faced various social, economic and humanitarian challenges, adding that effective coordination among state institutions was essential to ensure safe and dignified migration.
The Governor also stressed the importance of providing Pakistanis seeking overseas employment with legal and secure migration opportunities.
