PEC launches Brain Gain Portal to connect Pakistani engineers worldwide with country
ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP):The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has launched the Brain Gain Portal to connect Pakistani engineers and experts living around the world with students, universities, startups and industry in Pakistan.
The inaugural ceremony of the portal was held at the PEC Headquarters, where Secretary Ministry of Science and Technology Engineer Shahid Iqbal Baloch and PEC Chairman Engineer Waseem Nazir jointly inaugurated the platform.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to France Mumtaz Zahra Baloch attended the ceremony as the guest of honour.
The Brain Gain Portal will provide overseas Pakistani engineers and experts with opportunities to offer professional guidance and mentorship to students, review research and technical proposals, and supervise final-year projects.
Through the portal, experts will also be able to provide specialised technical assistance to Pakistani startups and industrial organisations, helping strengthen linkages between global expertise and local institutions.
Membership of the Brain Gain Portal is open to Pakistani engineers and experts residing anywhere in the world, as well as international experts interested in supporting Pakistan.
The portal features “Gain Circles” for different technical fields and “Worldwide Chapters” to facilitate regional networking and collaboration.
Experienced engineers and experts will be registered as “Contributors,” while students, universities, startups and industry will join the platform as “Seekers.”
A dedicated “Hall of Fame” has also been established on the portal to recognise prominent Pakistani engineers, along with an “Iconic Projects Registry” to document historic engineering projects in Pakistan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary Science and Technology, Engineer Shahid Iqbal Baloch said the Brain Gain Portal would help harness the expertise of Pakistani engineers living abroad for national development.
He said the platform would establish stronger linkages among global experts, universities, students, startups and industry, adding that it would play an important role in promoting research, innovation and engineering in Pakistan.
PEC Chairman Engineer Waseem Nazir said moving abroad did not end Pakistani engineers’ connection with their country.
He said the global expertise of Pakistani engineers remained a valuable national asset, adding that the Brain Gain Portal would serve as a bridge to bring the expertise of overseas Pakistani engineers back to the country. He said the portal would provide an effective platform to connect the global engineering community with Pakistan.
