The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested six suspects in separate cases of alleged cyber harassment, blackmailing and online threats in Lahore,Faisalabad and Multan. LAHORE, Sep 15 (APP):The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested six suspects in separate cases of alleged cyber harassment, blackmailing and online threats in Lahore,Faisalabad and Multan.
A spokesperson for NCCIA said on Tuesday that in Lahore,the team arrested a suspect,Iftikhar,on a complaint filed by a woman.
He was accused of allegedly harassing and threatening his former wife and using her private pictures and videos for blackmail.
Investigators recovered a mobile phone from the suspect and secured it for forensic examination.
Threatening messages and objectionable material were also found during the technical analysis of a WhatsApp account,the agency said.
In Faisalabad, the agency arrested Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Irfan in two separate cases.
The suspects were accused of allegedly harassing,threatening and blackmailing complainants through WhatsApp and social media using objectionable data.
A mobile phone and an alleged WhatsApp number were recovered in each case.
In Multan,the authorities arrested Muhammad Shoaib, Muhammad Salar and Ahmad Ali in three separate cyber harassment cases.
The suspects were accused of allegedly harassing women through electronic means and causing them mental distress.
Mobile phones were seized from all three suspects for forensic examination.
The spokesperson said further legal action in all cases would be taken in light of the digital evidence collected during investigations.
