The Capital Development Authority (CDA), district administration and emergency services stepped up field operations in Islamabad on Tuesday after heavy early-morning rain, with teams deployed to monitor drainage, traffic and vulnerable locations and respond to any emergencies.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 15 (APP):The Capital Development Authority (CDA), district administration and emergency services stepped up field operations in Islamabad on Tuesday after heavy early-morning rain, with teams deployed to monitor drainage, traffic and vulnerable locations and respond to any emergencies.
CDA sanitation and environment teams were engaged in dewatering operations and clearing roads, drains, underpasses and other sensitive and low-lying areas, while officials monitored the situation to minimise disruption to commuters.
Assistant commissioners and the additional deputy commissioner (general), along with their staff, also remained in the field to oversee drainage arrangements and coordinate with relevant departments.
CDA Chairman visited various parts of the capital, including Babar Park, during the rain to review the situation and inspect drainage and sanitation arrangements.
He also reviewed ongoing development, landscaping and renovation work at the park and directed officials to expedite the projects while maintaining the area’s green character and public facilities.
The chairman later visited the Emergency and Disaster Management and Rescue 1122 headquarters, where he reviewed preparations for dealing with possible emergencies arising from heavy rainfall.
Officials briefed him on the available machinery, rescue equipment, resources and emergency response mechanism.
He directed the relevant teams to remain alert and ensure rapid response in case of flooding, damage to buildings, accidents or other emergencies.
The authorities also stressed coordination among the CDA, district administration, Islamabad Water, Rescue 1122 and other relevant departments to ensure timely assistance to residents.
The CDA said its teams were continuing dewatering and road-clearance operations to facilitate traffic and keep major routes accessible.
Residents were advised to contact Rescue 1122 at 1122, police at 15 or the CDA helpline at 1334 in case of an emergency.
