TORONTO Canada, Sep 14 (APP):Pakistani actress and producer Mahira khan made her presence felt at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026, representing Pakistan’s growing footprint in global cinema and media.
Attending as part of a Pakistani delegation, Mahira khan participated in red carpet screenings, industry panels, and networking sessions aimed at building co-production opportunities between Pakistani and international filmmakers. The festival, held from September 10, welcomed over 270 films and thousands of industry professionals from more than 80 countries.
Speaking on the sidelines of TIFF, Mahira khan said, “It’s an honor to represent Pakistan at TIFF. This platform is not just about films, it’s about cultural exchange. Pakistani stories deserve a global audience, and festivals like TIFF give us that stage.”
The actress attended the North American premiere of an independent South Asian feature and took part in a panel discussion on “Women in South Asian Cinema,” where she highlighted the evolving roles of women both in front of and behind the camera in Pakistan’s film and digital media industry.
APP officials accompanying the delegation noted that Mahira participation aligns with ongoing efforts to promote Pakistani talent abroad and explore media cooperation agreements discussed earlier this year between APP and international press agencies.
TIFF 2026 also featured a special focus on diverse voices, with several South Asian films receiving critical acclaim. Industry analysts say the presence of Pakistani artists like Mahira khan helps open doors for future collaborations, distribution deals, and cultural diplomacy.
The Toronto International Film Festival continues to serve as one of the world’s most influential platforms for launching award-season films and fostering cross-border creative partnerships.
