Workers’ children to get better opportunities for higher education: minister

LAHORE, Sep 14 (APP):Punjab Minister for Labour and Human Resource Muhammad Manshaullah Butt has said providing better opportunities for higher education to the children of workers is among the government’s top priorities, with the Punjab government taking measures under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enable them to build a successful future through education.
He was speaking during a meeting with children of workers studying at different campuses of COMSATS University, including Lahore, Abbottabad, Islamabad, Sahiwal, Attock, Wah and Vehari campuses.
The minister distributed educational scholarship cheques worth more than Rs150 million among the children of workers, providing financial assistance to help them pursue higher education.
Manshaullah Butt said the scholarships were aimed at enabling the children of workers to utilize their educational abilities and play their role in the development and progress of the country. “ Our commitment is to ensure that the child of a worker gets higher education, moves forward and achieves success,” he said, adding that all possible support was being provided to workers’ children for higher education and welfare initiatives would continue for the purpose.
During the interaction, the minister discussed the students’ academic performance, degree programmes
and future goals, and encouraged them to pursue their studies with hard work and dedication.
He said quality education, hard work and commitment were the foundation of success, and expressed his best wishes for the students’ bright future.
Manshaullah Butt said the government was making every effort to ensure that workers’ children did not face financial difficulties in pursuing higher education.
Chairman Standing Committee on Labour and Human Resource Chaudhry Amjad Ali Javed, Labour Secretary Danish Afzal, Commissioner Social Security Zulfiqar Ali Kharl, Workers Welfare Secretary Mujtaba Bhurwana and other relevant officers were also present.
