HYDERABAD, Sep 14 (APP):Under the vision and guidance of Vice Chancellor of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Prof. Ikram Din Ujjan, a four-day Master Trainer Workshop on Problem Management Plus (PM+), organized by the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, LUMHS commenced at the Medical Research Centre, Jamshoro. The workshop will continue from September 14 to 17, 2026.
According to the LUMHS spokesperson, the program opened with an introductory meeting of stakeholders. The chairman of the institute of psychiatry, Rawalpindi Medical University Prof. Asad Tamizuddin Nizami presented an overview of the workshop, outlining its significance in strengthening the delivery of mental health services across Pakistan.
He expressed gratitude to Prof. Ikram Din Ujjan for his support and warm hospitality in hosting the event at Jamshoro, and also thanked Dr. Jamil Junejo, Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, LUMHS and his team for making the event possible.
During the session, Dean of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences Prof. Imran Ali Shaikh spoke about the importance of training trainers in mental health and reaffirmed LUMHS’s commitment under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, to advancing research and providing clinical services to the community. He commended Prof. Asad Tamizuddin Nizami for bringing this training initiative to LUMHS.
Prof. Muniza Malik, Chairperson of the Department of Psychology, University of Sindh, Jamshoro affirmed her department’s collaboration with LUMHS in promoting psychological interventions within medical settings.
Prof. Irfana Shah of SZABIST also reaffirmed her continued role in this initiative, while Prof. Moin Ansari spoke about the significance of the training and his involvement in the ongoing activities.
Prof. Afzal Junejo thanked the audience and commended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of LUMHS in facilitating the workshop. Prof. Bunsha Manzoor, Director of ORIC, LUMHS shared her remarks on the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between medical universities aimed at promoting research collaboration.
Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry, LUMHS Dr. Jamil Junejo delivered the welcome address. Guests were honored with traditional Sindhi cap and ajrak.
Following the introductory session, the second part of the program began, in which 40 participants started the practical training sessions of the workshop. The sessions would continue until September 17, 2026.
