FAISALABAD, Sep 14 (APP):On the directives of Director General Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Muhammad Asif Chaudhary, a vigorous operation against encroachments is underway in residential colonies and commercial markets under the administrative control of the FDA.
The FDA spokesman said that FDA Anti-Encroachment Team carried out an operation in various markets of Gulfishan Colony on Jhang Road, removing encroachments and clearing roads and public passageways.
During operation, business articles/items being used for encroachment was confiscated, while challans were prepared against 21 shopkeepers found violating the rules and forwarded to the court of the Special Judicial Magistrate for further legal proceedings.
He said that following complaints received from citizens, Director General FDA Muhammad Asif Chaudhary directed the concerned officers to take immediate action against encroachments in Gulfishan Colony.
On his instructions, FDA Anti-Encroachment Team, working under the supervision of Director State Management-I Junaid Hassan Manj and headed by Estate Officer Farhan Hashmi, comprising Enforcement Inspector Aslam Ansari and other relevant staff, conducted a detailed inspection of various markets in the colony.
During inspection, it was found that certain shopkeepers, fruit vendors, food-stall operators, breakfast outlets and other business owners had occupied roads, footpaths and public passageways by placing merchandise, tables, chairs, pushcarts and other items beyond the prescribed limits of their shops and business premises.
He said that the encroachments were causing inconvenience to citizens and adversely affecting the smooth flow of traffic.
He said that FDA Anti-Encroachment Team took immediate action on the spot, removing the illegally placed items and encroachments and restoring the roads and passageways for public use.
Various items of business equipment being used for encroachment were also confiscated, while legal proceedings were initiated against the concerned shopkeepers and their challans were forwarded to the court of the Special Judicial Magistrate.
On the occasion, FDA officials made it clear that encroachments on roads, footpaths and public passageways in residential colonies and commercial markets would not be permitted under any circumstances.
