DC orders 24-hour monitoring, strict action against dumping in Nullah Lai
RAWALPINDI, Sep 14 (APP):Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi, Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir has directed round-the-clock monitoring of Nullah Lai to prevent illegal dumping and ordered strict legal action against violators without discrimination.
He issued the directions while chairing a meeting at the DC Complex to review dumping, encroachments and other issues related to Nullah Lai.
The DC made it clear that illegal dumping in Nullah Lai would not be tolerated under any circumstances, directing that vehicles used for dumping be seized and detained and First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against the responsible persons.
Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir further directed that people residing within the Nullah Lai limits who had received compensation for their land, had transferred their land or whose transfer process was pending should be evacuated immediately after completing all legal requirements.
He specifically directed Safe City officials to ensure effective round-the-clock surveillance at different points along Nullah Lai and immediately report any dumping or other illegal activity to the relevant authorities.
The DC said no negligence would be tolerated in the cleaning and opening up of Nullah Lai or in the ongoing related measures. He directed all concerned departments to ensure effective implementation through coordination and a unified strategy.
Additional Deputy Commissioner General Maleeha Sahar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Social Services, Managing Director WASA, Deputy Director Development, Safe City officials and officers of other relevant departments attended the meeting.
