were being restored and activated at key junctions in the city to improve traffic flow and provide safer and smoother commuting facilities to citizens.
Talking to APP here on Monday, he said traffic signals at Chungi No. 9, Eidgah and Syedanwala Bypass had already been made operational, while work was underway to restore signals at SP Chowk, Nishtar Chowk and others.
The remaining systems would be activated soon with the cooperation of Multan Development Authority (MDA) and district administration, he added.
The CTO said restoration of traffic signals at major intersections would help regulate the increasing traffic volume and improve road discipline. He urged motorists to cooperate with traffic police and strictly observe traffic signals
to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement and reduce the risk of accidents.
He said the traffic police were also conducting awareness programmes at schools and colleges to educate students about traffic laws, road safety and responsible driving. Muhammad Nabeel Khokhar said the rapidly increasing number of motorcycles and rickshaws in Multan had made effective traffic management and public awareness more important.
According to Excise and Taxation Department data, around 1.7 million motorcycles and rickshaws had been registered in the city during the last 10 to 15 years. He stressed that traffic enforcement was aimed not merely at imposing fines but at promoting responsible road behaviour and creating a safer traffic environment.
He also urged motorcyclists, including the growing number of women scooter riders, to wear helmets and follow traffic regulations.
