ATTOCK, Sep 13 (APP):The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested a Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) assistant director on Sunday for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs30,000 in exchange for facilitating a new water connection.According to ACE officials, the action was taken on a complaint filed by Bilal Ahmed against Jameel Akhtar Shad, Assistant Director (Administration and Finance), WASA.
The complainant alleged that the official had demanded Rs30,000 as illegal gratification to process the installation of a new water connection.Acting on the complaint, ACE set a trap to verify the allegation. The raid was conducted by ACE Circle Officer Jahanzeb Khan under the supervision of Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Zia Chaudhry.
The official was reportedly apprehended red-handed while receiving the alleged bribe.Following the operation, ACE registered a case against the suspect and launched an investigation into the matter.
