LAHORE, Sep 13 (APP):Kot Lakhpat Police arrested a suspect using modern technology after a woman was allegedly lured through social media, tortured, and sexually assaulted.
According to a police spokesperson here on Sunday, the arrested suspect, identified as Shehryar, had befriended a woman, named Rida, on the social media platform TikTok. The suspect called the victim late at night from Multan Chungi to his residence in Madina Town.
Police stated that Shehryar subsequently left the house under a pretext, following which his accomplice, identified as Sohail, allegedly tortured and sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing the scene.
Taking swift action upon receiving the complaint, police utilized modern tracking technology to trace and arrest Shehryar. Further the accused handed over to the Gender Cell for further investigation, while raids were being conducted to apprehend the fleeing accused, Sohail.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Model Town Asad Ali stated that individuals involved in violence or exploitation against women would be dealt with strictly according to law, emphasizing that no leniency would be shown to the perpetrators.
