Commissioner Rawalpindi directs RDA crackdown as Mid City apartments sealed over illegal commercial activities

RAWALPINDI, Sep 12 (APP):On the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Director General, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA), Salman Ghani, RDA has initiated action against illegal construction, unauthorized commercial use and other illegal activities within its controlled areas.
In this regard, RDA Enforcement Squad, with the assistance of Punjab Police from Dhoke Lalyal Police Chowki, Police Station Airport has conducted an operation against ongoing illegal commercial activities at Mid City Apartments at Service Road, Mouza Gangal.
During the operation, various illegal commercial activities, including unauthorized offices, restaurants and illegal penthouses, were sealed by the RDA Enforcement Team.
Action was taken in accordance with the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations and other applicable planning laws.
The operation was carried out by Building Superintendent RDA Fahad Ali Bhatti, along with Building Inspectors, Building Surveyor and other Enforcement staff.
The team included Mukhtar Ahmed, Shafeeq-ur-Rehman, Aamir Mehmood, Asad Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed.
The RDA Spokesperson said that the authority has made it clear that no unauthorized commercial activity, illegal construction or development violation would be permitted within its controlled area.
He said that strict action is being taken against violators to ensure compliance with approved building plans, zoning regulations and other applicable laws.
He said that action against illegal construction, unauthorized development and unlawful commercial activities would continue in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations. Field teams have been directed to maintain strict monitoring and take action against violations without discrimination.
The spokesperson reiterated that the authority is committed to ensuring planned urban development and strict compliance with the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations. He said that no illegal construction or unauthorized development would be tolerated and legal action against violators would continue without discrimination.
The general public is advised to verify the legal and approval status of any housing scheme or construction project before making any investment. Citizens are also encouraged to report illegal constructions and unauthorized developments to the RDA so that timely action can be taken in accordance with the law.
