RIC nursing assault case: Hospital management, police step up security measures

RAWALPINDI, Sep 12 (APP):The Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) administration and Rawalpindi Police took swift action in response to a recent nursing assault incident, deploying additional police personnel and strict access protocols to ensure staff protection.
Following instructions from City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Hafiz Tariq Mahmood and SP Rawal Baidar Bakht visited RIC to meet with nursing staff and hospital executives.
During the meeting, hospital management confirmed that an internal inquiry board had concluded its investigation into the assault, with the formal report being dispatched to the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department.
Authorities also announced the strict, non-negotiable enforcement of a “one patient, one attendant” policy across all wards.
SSP Operations Hafiz Tariq Mahmood confirmed that a case was registered immediately following the incident and investigations are underway.
To enhance physical security, additional police personnel and female police constables have been deployed at the hospital premises, while emergency response channels aligned with Chief Minister Punjab directives were established for healthcare staff.
The hospital administration also confirmed joint security measures would further enhance internal security of the hospital.
A minor conflict between a patient attendant and a nurse was reported, following immediate response from hospital administration.
