Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has planned Sarkhwai Barani dam in district Mardan for purposes of drinking and irrigation.

PESHAWAR, Sep 12 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has planned Sarkhwai Barani dam in district Mardan for purposes of drinking and irrigation.
The dam will be constructed at an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 3 billion, which will irrigate around 1,162 acres of barren land.
The construction of the dam will promote agricultural activities in the area, significantly increase farmers’ production, and ensure the availability of water for agriculture throughout all twelve months of the year.
In this regard a meeting was held here with Special Assistant to KP CM on Population Welfare Tufail Anjum in the chair.
Director General Small Dams, Engineer Akhtar Rashid, Director Small Dams, Suleman Dawood, Deputy Director Small Dams, Syed Suleman, along with other relevant officials attended.
During the meeting, various aspects of the Sarkhwai Barani Dam, its construction plan, and its expected positive impact on agriculture and the local economy were reviewed in detail.
The relevant officials gave the Special Assistant a detailed briefing on the importance of the project and its anticipated benefits.
Speaking on occasion, Tufail Anjum said that the construction of the Sarkhwai Barani Dam is an important public welfare and agricultural project, which will not only bring barren land under cultivation but will also provide farmers in the area with a permanent and reliable supply of water for irrigation throughout the year.
The completion of the project would bring significant improvement to the agricultural sector, increase production many times over, and bring about a genuine agricultural revolution in the area.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking priority measures for public welfare and the development of the agricultural sector.
The completion of water storage and irrigation projects in rural areas will not only contribute to the financial prosperity of farmers but will also strengthen the local economy.
The Special Assistant directed the concerned authorities to complete all technical and administrative matters related to the project in a timely manner and take effective measures to initiate the construction process so that the public can benefit from this important project at the earliest possible time.
