Rescue 1122 intensifies fire safety, emergency preparedness measures in DIKhan

Dera Ismail Khan , Sep 12 (APP):Rescue 1122 Dera Ismail Khan has intensified its fire safety training and emergency preparedness activities besides reviewing operational arrangements, water rescue facilities and availability of essential medical supplies to ensure an effective response to emergencies.

On the directions of Director General Rescue 1122 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shah Fahad and Regional Director Operations South Kohat Region Imran Khan Yousafzai, and under the supervision of District Emergency Officer Muhammad Arif Khan, a fire safety training and awareness session was organised for the staff of Dinar Cancer Hospital, Dera Ismail Khan.

During the session, hospital staff were provided practical training on immediate safety measures in case of fire, fire emergency response procedures, proper use of fire extinguishers, basic firefighting techniques and safe evacuation procedures. The participants were also briefed about different types of fire and the selection and use of appropriate fire extinguishers.

A similar fire safety training and awareness session was also conducted for the staff of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office in Paroa on the special request of Zonal In-charge Ikram Kundi. The Rescue 1122 training team provided practical guidance on dealing with fire emergencies, safe evacuation, use of fire extinguishers and fire balls, besides stressing the importance of immediately contacting Rescue 1122 in an emergency.

Meanwhile, Emergency Officer Muhammad Israr Khan inspected the Temporary Water Rescue Point established at the main Indus River on the directions of the District Emergency Officer. He reviewed the deployment of rescue personnel and divers as well as the availability of water rescue equipment and assessed arrangements for preventing drowning incidents and ensuring a timely emergency response.

He directed the personnel deployed at the water rescue point to remain alert round the clock and create awareness among citizens about avoiding bathing, swimming and unsafe boating in the river. He also emphasised the need for immediate response in case of any emergency.

The Emergency Officer also visited Rescue 1122 Stations 11, 33 and 44 and the Motor Transport Section, where he reviewed rescue operations, emergency vehicles, equipment and other operational arrangements. The staff were directed to keep all vehicles and equipment in fully operational condition and ensure timely response and provision of quality emergency services.

During an inspection of the Rescue 1122 store room, the availability and record of medicines, medical supplies and other essential rescue material were reviewed. The expiry dates of medicines were also checked to ensure the availability of safe and usable supplies during emergencies.

The storekeeper was directed to promptly separate medicines approaching expiry and ensure regular inspection of all medicines and essential equipment. The importance of keeping emergency medical supplies complete, serviceable and readily available was also stressed.

District Emergency Officer Muhammad Arif Khan said Rescue 1122 was committed to strengthening emergency preparedness and response mechanisms through regular inspections, practical training and awareness activities. He said fire safety training of staff in public and private institutions, preparedness of water rescue teams and regular checking of rescue equipment and medical supplies were essential for protecting precious human lives and property.

He directed all concerned officials and personnel to remain vigilant, maintain operational readiness and ensure timely and professional response to emergencies, adding that public awareness and preventive measures were equally important in reducing risks and saving lives.
