Cabinet committee approves amendments to procurement laws, other legal matters
ISLAMABAD, Sep 11 (APP):The Cabinet Committee for Disposal of Legislative Matters, chaired by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, on Friday approved various legal and administrative matters, including amendments to the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002 and the new Public Procurement Rules, 2025.
The committee also approved inclusion of the Geographical Indication Act, 2020 in the relevant Schedule, discontinuation of the Condiment Allowance and a specific amendment to the Danish Schools Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Law and Justice and attended by relevant officials from various ministries and divisions.
The committee approved all five matters and forwarded them to the concerned ministries and divisions for further necessary action.
The meeting also reviewed matters concerning effective utilization of railway land and revenue generation. The committee was briefed on a significant increase in revenue generated from railway land, besides the existing and expected availability of such land.
It decided that proposed amendments to the rules relating to railway land would be considered after further consultation and directed the relevant authorities to hold consultations on the matter.
The proposed amendment to the Drugs (Research) Rules, 1978 was also considered but deferred for further deliberation and consultation.
The committee also decided that the deferred matters would be taken up again at its next meeting after obtaining further clarification and consultation from the relevant ministries and departments.
