Four selected for Pride of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Awards
PESHAWAR, Sep 11 (APP):Four individuals from different fields have been selected for the Pride of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Awards, which will be presented on September 15 at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, during the 9th edition of the Metrix Pakistan Youth Summit.
The summit is being powered by the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the organisers, a total of 368 applications were received through the official registration process at prideofkp.pk/register.
Following the scrutiny and assessment of applications, four individuals were selected for the awards. The organisers said the selection was made on merit.
The selected awardees include Ashfaq Ahmad of Swabi, who has been associated with healthcare services. According to his application, Ahmad developed and promoted an emergency orthopaedic, sports and spine centre in Topi, Swabi, and has independently performed more than 4,000 surgeries in a peripheral healthcare setting.
Dr Faisal Khan, associated with COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, has been selected for his work in education, technology and innovation. His application highlights his research and academic contributions in electrical engineering, including more than 157 publications and research work related to electric machine design and sustainable energy systems.
Shakeel Ahmed Tanoli of Abbottabad has been recognised for community service, social impact, healthcare, women empowerment and volunteer work. His application states that he personally funded three ambulances for communities in need and supported welfare initiatives including assistance for deserving families, flood relief activities, sewing machine centres and other community projects through the Tanawal Welfare Organization.
Dr. Shah Khalid of Battagram, associated with the Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been selected in the healthcare category. He is described in his application as the first neurosurgeon from Battagram and a neurosurgical oncologist who returned to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to provide specialised medical services.
His work includes the introduction of advanced neurosurgical procedures in the Hazara region and academic contributions through research publications and scientific presentations.
The awards will be presented during the Metrix Pakistan Youth Summit 9th Edition on September 15, 2026, at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus.
