PESCO removes 67 illegal connections, recovers Rs 2.1m dues in DI Khan
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Sep 10 (APP):The Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) removed 67 illegal direct connections and recovered more than Rs 2.1 million in outstanding dues during a crackdown on power theft in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank.
The campaign was launched under the supervision of Dera Circle Superintending Engineer Hizbullah Khan Mehsud. Executive Engineers Muaz Ahmed of Rural Division, Sanaullah of City Division and the Executive Engineer of Tank led operations in their respective areas.
During the campaign, several illegal connections were removed and reports against electricity theft were sent to the concerned police stations for legal action.
Under the supervision of XEN Muaz Ahmed, PESCO officials removed a 50-KVA transformer in Asifabad on the 11-KV Sagu feeder after it was found being used for direct electricity theft through illegal hooks. In a separate operation supervised by the Daraban SDO, two 200-KVA transformers at Sana Garden on Tank Road, along with HT and LT leads and SY-2 units, were removed over direct power theft. Both areas also had millions of rupees in outstanding dues.
A 50-KVA transformer on the 11-KV Sheikh Yousaf feeder was also disconnected over power theft and outstanding dues.
Similar operations were carried out in Colony Basti Dewala, Muryali, Qureshi Morr and Muslim Bazaar.
Talking to the media, SE Hizbullah Khan Mehsud said the campaign against power theft and for recovery of outstanding dues would continue without any discrimination.
He said cases would be registered with the relevant police stations against people involved in electricity theft.
