CDWP approves Rs 5.7 bln package for SAF Games infrastructure upgradation
ISLAMABAD, Sep 10 (APP):The Central Development Working Party (CDWP), chaired by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission and Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal, has examined and reviewed a comprehensive package of projects for the upgradation and development of sports infrastructure for the upcoming SAF Games, with a total estimated cost of Rs 5.7 billion.
Following detailed consideration, the CDWP approved the proposed development package, marking a major milestone towards ensuring the smooth, efficient and successful hosting of the SAF Games in Pakistan, said a press release.
The approved projects include major upgradation of facilities at the Pakistan Sports Complex, Islamabad, as well as sports facilities in other cities. The improvements will enhance the quality, functionality and readiness of venues required for hosting the regional multi-sport event.
Secretary Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, termed the approval a major achievement and expressed appreciation for the leadership and support extended by the Prime Minister and the Planning Commission for strengthening Pakistan’s sports infrastructure.
He said the substantial investment would not only facilitate the smooth conduct of the SAF Games but would also create a lasting legacy for Pakistan’s sporting community.
“The approval of the Rs. 5.7 billion infrastructure package is a major step forward for the successful hosting of the SAF Games. InshaAllah, the comprehensive upgradation of the Pakistan Sports Complex and other sports facilities across the country will ensure that our athletes and visiting teams are provided with quality facilities. These upgraded venues will also continue to benefit Pakistani sport long after the Games.”
The Secretary IPC said that the Ministry would work closely with the Planning Commission and all relevant stakeholders to ensure timely implementation and completion of the approved projects, in line with the requirements of the SAF Games.
