CDA continues tree plantation drive across Islamabad
ISLAMABAD, Sep 10 (APP):The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Environment Wing is continuing its tree plantation and landscaping drive across Islamabad to make the federal capital greener, healthier and more beautiful.
According to the CDA, comprehensive plantation and horticultural activities are being carried out along major roads, green belts, parks, road medians, intersections and other public spaces.
Trees, flowering plants, ornamental plants and shrubs are being planted at various locations while special attention is being given to improving existing green areas and landscaping vacant and underdeveloped spaces.
The Environment Wing is also replacing dead and damaged trees and plants and ensuring regular watering, maintenance and after-care of newly planted saplings to improve their survival and growth.
The CDA said suitable, climate-compatible and locally appropriate plant species were being selected in line with Islamabad’s environmental requirements.
Alongside new plantation, the Environment Wing is carrying out pruning, grass cutting, watering and other horticultural activities to maintain the capital’s existing green spaces.
The Authority said the plantation drive was part of its broader efforts to protect and expand Islamabad’s green cover and improve the urban environment.
The CDA has also encouraged citizens, educational institutions, businesses and other organizations to participate in the plantation campaign and help protect the city’s existing trees and green spaces.
The Authority said the plantation activities were being monitored by concerned officers to ensure proper implementation and continued care of newly planted trees and plants.
The CDA reiterated that the plantation drive would continue across Islamabad with the same momentum to preserve the capital’s natural beauty and promote a clean, green and sustainable environment.
