Sindh Police clarifies forensic report in trader Mir Raza murder case
KARACHI, Sep 09 (APP):Sindh Police on Wednesday clarified media reports regarding the forensic report in the murder case of trader Mir Raza, stating that the shell recovered from the crime scene had been submitted to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) on August 7.
According to a police spokesperson, the shell was received by the forensic laboratory through a formal memo on August 7, while the relevant forensic report was issued on August 10.
The spokesperson said the forensic report had been part of the case file from the outset and was also included among the documents submitted to the Sindh High Court Commission along with the initial supplementary challan.
The forensic laboratory had identified negligence on the part of the relevant arms dealer and recommended legal action against him, he added.
The spokesperson rejected as incorrect and contrary to facts the impression being given at different forums that the shell recovered from the crime scene had been submitted late or was not the shell of the pistol used in the incident.
He said the shell used in the incident had been personally submitted to the forensic laboratory by the investigating officer.
However, he added that following recovery of the pistol allegedly used in the offence, the shell would undergo a fresh verification process.
The spokesperson urged the media to verify facts and confirm information with the relevant institutions before publishing any report concerning the sensitive case, in order to avoid dissemination of unverified or misleading information.
