PSX stays bearish, loses over 698 points
ISLAMABAD, Sep 9 (APP):The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with its bearish trend on Wednesday, losing 698.56 points, a negative change of 0.40 percent, to close at 171,943.60 points against 172,642.16 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 477.674 million shares, compared to 722.624 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value stood at Rs 22.637 billion, down from Rs 27.942 billion.
Market capitalisation decreased to Rs 19.233 trillion from Rs 19.295 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 492 companies that traded in the ready market, 162 posted gains, 293 suffered losses, while 37 remained unchanged, reflecting a downward trend in the market.
Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 65.824 million shares, followed by Aisha Steel Mill with 28.558 million shares, and Thatta Cement with 25.595 million shares.
Among the top gainers, PIA Holding Company LimitedB surged by Rs 568.02 to close at Rs 17,450.00, while Pakistan Services Limited advanced by Rs 98.02 to settle at Rs 1,078.25.
On the losing side, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs 349.50 to close at Rs 24,500.00, while Buxly Paints Limited fell by Rs 114.48 to Rs 1,030.36.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 131.978 million shares with a traded value of Rs 7.107 billion, compared with 176.266 million shares worth Rs 8.304 billion in the previous session.
Of the 299 companies traded in the DFC market, 81 advanced, 214 declined, and 4 remained unchanged.
