38 transport project employees seek protection from termination
PESHAWAR, Sep 09 (APP):Thirty-eight employees working under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport Facilitation Project have appealed to the provincial government to reconsider their termination and provide them an opportunity to continue their services in the Transport Department.
The employees were recruited through the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) in 2022 when the provincial government launched the project to strengthen transport services in the newly merged districts.
The affected employees said they had served for more than four years in remote and challenging areas and gained valuable experience while performing their assigned duties.
They expressed concern that their termination at this stage would leave them with limited employment opportunities, particularly as several of them had reached or were nearing the upper age limit for government jobs.
The employees have written to Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport Samiullah Khan, seeking his intervention to protect their jobs.
They proposed that the government either withdraw the termination orders or consider their adjustment against suitable vacant posts in the Transport Department in accordance with applicable rules.
The employees said the department had 104 vacant positions and urged the government to consider adjusting the 38 experienced workers against suitable vacancies.
They argued that retaining trained personnel would also enable the government to benefit from their experience and avoid the need to train new staff for similar assignments.
