PFA discards over 300kg unhygienic meat, 500 litre substandard water

MULTAN, Sep 09 (APP):Acting on the special directives of the Director General Punjab Food Authority (PFA), food safety teams intensified action against suppliers of substandard and unsafe food items across the region.
During a checking operation at Ada Qureshi Wala in Lodhran, a PFA food safety team intercepted a loader rickshaw carrying 320 kilograms of stale and foul-smelling meat. The meat was found in extremely poor condition, with significant discoloration. A veterinary doctor declared it unfit for human consumption and hazardous to public health.
The PFA team immediately destroyed the unsafe meat on the spot. A case was registered against the supplier, and the accused was arrested.
Meanwhile, in Burewala and Tiba Sultanpur, three water plants were shut down till improvement after water samples failed laboratory tests and bacteria were detected. 500 litres of substandard packaged water were also discarded on the spot.
