PESHAWAR, Sep 09 (APP):Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Forests and Environment, Pir Musawir Khan Ghazi, has said that practical work on 20 Miyawaki forests in Peshawar was progressing rapidly to control air pollution.
He claimed that one million saplings across the province were planted in September 6, which was Defence Day of Pakistan.
Pir Musawir Khan Ghazi took part in a tree-plantation campaign at Palandrah in Tehsil Dargai, Malakand district, where he formally inaugurated the campaign by planting an olive sapling.
Speaking to members of the local community, the adviser urged people to actively participate in the plantation drive and distributed saplings among residents.
He said 1.4 million saplings were planted across the province on March 23 ie Pakistan Day, while another 1.7 million were planted on August 14, Independence Day.
He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was continuing its efforts to promote tree plantation and protect the environment.
According to Pir Musawir Khan, a total of 22,255 saplings were planted under the campaign in Tehsil Dargai alone.
He said that under the leadership of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, historic measures were being taken with public participation to promote forests, expand tree plantation and protect the environment.
The adviser said the provincial government’s plantation initiatives would help improve the environment, address the impacts of climate change and ensure a safe, green and sustainable future for coming generations.
