ISLAMABAD, Sep 09 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police staged a grand flag march of its newly inducted 50 electric vehicles (EVs), starting from D-Chowk and passing through major roads of the federal capital before returning to the same point, marking the fleet’s rollout for enhanced patrolling and field operations.
An official told APP on Wednesday that the flag march showcased the modern electric fleet inducted into Islamabad Police to strengthen police presence on roads, expand patrolling and promote environment-friendly policing.
The EV flag march started from D-Chowk, moved through key roads of Islamabad and concluded at D-Chowk, presenting the newly inducted fleet that will be used to improve policing and security across the capital.
The 50 electric vehicles were handed over to Islamabad Police by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday, with the keys presented to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi as part of efforts to promote modern, safe and green policing.
The new vehicles are part of the Capital Patrol initiative, aimed at strengthening security, rapid response and effective patrolling in different areas of Islamabad.
SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza said the addition of modern electric vehicles would make police patrolling more active and strengthen the presence of personnel in the field.
He said the expanded patrolling network and closer surveillance of sensitive locations and major roads would help police prevent crime.
Qazi said the electric vehicles would also help improve police response time and make field operations faster and more effective.
He termed the induction of EVs an important step towards modern and environment-friendly policing, saying effective use of technology and available resources was helping provide citizens with a peaceful and secure environment.
The SSP Qazi said protection of citizens’ lives and property remained the top priority, adding that modern resources would further strengthen the field force, patrolling and security system across Islamabad.
