DC orders sealing of Private School after water tank collapse

Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Wednesday taken strict notice of an incident in which students were injured after a water tank collapsed at a private school, Sanai School Junior Campus, and ordered the immediate sealing of the institution.

According to a spokesperson, the deputy commissioner constituted a multi-member inquiry committee to determine the causes of the incident, examine possible negligence in safety arrangements and identify those responsible.
The committee would be headed by the Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority Sargodha, while the Deputy District Education Officer (DDEO), DSP City and SDO Buildings Sargodha will serve as its members.
The committee would examine the technical and structural causes of the water tank collapse and scrutinize the school’s building safety, structural fitness and fire safety certificates and approvals.
 It would assess possible negligence, poor maintenance or unauthorized construction by the school administration.
The committee would inspect the site and record statements of the school administration, eyewitnesses, parents of affected students and other relevant persons.
 It would determine responsibility and submit recommendations for legal and administrative action.
The DC Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry directed the committee to submit a transparent and comprehensive inquiry report within three working days.
He made it clear that no compromise would be made on the lives and safety of children, and effective measures would be taken in accordance with law to ensure safety arrangements at educational institutions.
