ISLAMABAD, Sep 08 (APP):Uraan Pakistan-linked initiatives have trained around 160,000 youth under different programmes and enrolled about 114,300 out-of-school children as part of efforts to expand access to education and skills development.
According to documents available with Wealth Pakistan, about 160,000 youth have been trained under different programmes through the Prime Minister Youth Skill Development Programme, which is aligned with the priority of promoting technical and vocational education and training.
Progress has also been reported in expanding equitable access to education. Under the Enrolment, Retention and Progression of Out-of-School Children in Islamabad Capital Territory initiative, about 114,300 out-of-school children have been enrolled.
The initiatives also include the establishment of Daanish Schools in ICT and lagging districts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Sindh.
According to the document, the academic session at the Daanish School in ICT has started, with 180 boys and 180 girls enrolled.
Under the provision of basic educational or missing facilities in ICT educational institutions, 152 institutions are being renovated, while 411 new classrooms are being added to existing schools.
In addition, two new colleges are being added in ICT under the Federal Directorate of Education.
Early childhood education has also expanded, with 100 Early Childhood Education (ECE) centres established in existing educational institutions and about 5,500 children enrolled in these centres.
Efforts to improve teaching quality are being advanced through the National Institute of Excellence in Teacher’s Education. A Continuous Professional Development (CPD) centre has been established with 55 coaches, 12 RMs and one programme manager, along with support staff.
The initiative has also registered 95% of primary and secondary schoolteachers on the digital platform. A three-level induction and in-service certification programme, verified by AKU, has been developed, while a training development studio has also been established.
Technology is being incorporated into education delivery through the Rumi app, described in the document as an all-in-one innovative solution developed according to teachers’ needs and class size. It provides real-time classroom observation and feedback in six languages.
A Digital Hub-Connected Classroom YouTube channel has also been established. Under the Daanish Schools initiative, state-of-the-art Google labs, computer labs and science labs are to be established.
The document further shows that a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Autism Children is being established at H-8/4, Islamabad.
