PESHAWAR, Sep 08 (APP):The authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday have accepted all demands of students following prolonged negotiations over alleged misbehavior and inappropriate treatment of students at Postgraduate College of Nursing in Hayatabad.
As an initial action, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the police station concerned has been suspended.
According to official sources on Tuesday, the authorities took action over the incident and decided to suspend the SHO. Further action against other officials responsible for the incident is also expected after completion of the inquiry.
A decision has also been taken regarding the principal. Authorities said action would be taken against the principal in light of the inquiry report, which will be submitted to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The inquiry committee, headed by the Director General Health Services and the Special Secretary Health, has been directed to submit its report to the Chief Minister by 5pm Wednesday.
Based on the inquiry report, further legal action will also be initiated against other officials found involved in the matter.
The authorities made it clear that misbehavior with students would not be tolerated under any circumstances and that justice and the rule of law would be ensured.
Following the acceptance of their demands after lengthy negotiations, the students also thanked the relevant institutions and officials for addressing their concerns.
