Defence Day reminds nation of sacrifices, unity: Shazia Mari
SANGHAR, Sep 06 (APP):Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) central spokesperson Shazia Mari has paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the 1965 war, describing Sept 6 as an unforgettable day in the country’s history.
In her message issued on Defence Day, Shazia Mari said the day reminded the nation of the great sacrifices made for the defence of the motherland. She said the entire nation saluted the martyrs and veterans of the 1965 war, adding that the armed forces and the people had demonstrated an exemplary spirit of unity, resolve and courage on Sept 6.
She said the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs constituted a glorious chapter of national history and that those who had laid down their lives for the country’s defence and security would always be remembered with honour and respect.
Shazia Mari said there could be no compromise on Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and defence. She added that the PPP remained committed to protecting democracy, the Constitution and national security.
She said the message of Defence Day was that national unity and solidarity were the foundations of a strong Pakistan. Advancing the mission of the martyrs and building a strong, prosperous and developed country was a collective responsibility, she added.
Shazia Mari also paid tribute to the martyrs, veterans and their families and prayed for lasting peace, stability and progress in Pakistan.
