CM Maryam pays tribute to armed forces on Defence Day
LAHORE, Sep 06 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to the officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, as well as the martyrs and Ghazis, on the occasion of Defence Day here on Sunday, saying the entire nation was proud of its brave armed forces.
In her message, the chief minister said the armed forces had set new standards of professionalism during Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and rendered invaluable services in the fight against terrorism.
She said the entire nation prayed for the safety and security of the officers and soldiers engaged in the war against terrorism. “The armed forces have proved that wars are not won through weapons alone, but through faith and conviction,” she added.
CM Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan, by the grace of Allah Almighty, had emerged as a strong country with an invincible defence. She said Pakistan was now a nuclear power and the people were more confident than ever about the country’s defence capabilities.
She also paid special tribute to the brave sons of the soil who stood firm on the borders to defend the motherland, saying their sacrifices were a matter of pride for the entire nation.
The CM said the people stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and would continue to support them. She stressed that the challenges confronting Pakistan demanded national unity and solidarity, adding that the nefarious designs of hostile forces seeking to create instability in the country would have to be defeated with full force, resolve and determination.
