Bilawal pays tribute to martyrs, armed forces on Defence Day

KARACHI, Sep 06 (APP):Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has paid rich tribute to the martyrs, veterans and valiant personnel of the armed forces on Defence Day, saying that the nation can never forget those, who laid down their lives for the defence, sovereignty and dignity of the motherland.

He said Defence Day is a solemn reminder of the priceless sacrifices made for Pakistan. “The blood of our martyrs is woven into the very fabric of our national existence, and their sacrifice will forever remain a sacred trust with the people of Pakistan,” he said.

He paid special tribute to the families of the martyrs, saying their mothers, fathers, wives, children and loved ones have endured immeasurable loss with extraordinary courage and dignity.

The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Pakistan’s armed forces have continued to defend the country against every threat, including terrorism, with unwavering courage and determination. He added that the nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its armed forces in safeguarding Pakistan’s peace, stability and sovereignty.

He stressed that Pakistan’s strongest defence rests not only on military strength but also on national unity, democracy, constitutional supremacy and social justice. “Pakistan’s true strength is its people. A nation united around democracy, equality and justice cannot be defeated,” he said.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto envisioned a strong, sovereign, democratic and prosperous Pakistan. He said their historic leadership laid an impregnable foundation for Pakistan’s national defence by advancing the country’s nuclear programme and missile technology despite immense international pressure, ensuring that Pakistan’s sovereignty would never be held hostage to external dictates.

He reaffirmed that the PPP will continue to stand for a strong, sovereign, democratic and peaceful Pakistan.

He further said that the best tribute to the martyrs is to build a country worthy of their sacrifices, where democracy flourishes, justice prevails and every citizen can live with dignity and hope.
