RAWALPINDI, Sep 04 (APP):Marking a milestone in female technological leadership and higher education, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) hosted a high-level delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to institute bilateral cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (AI), computing, capacity building and advanced academic research.
The visiting KOICA delegation comprised Deputy Country Director Harim Go, Young Professional/Researcher Dae-Yeon Kim and Manager Abdul Rehman Khan. FJWU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (TI) presided over the high-level meeting, joined by Dean Faculty of Science and Technology Prof. Dr. Azra Yasmin, Director Institute of Computer Science and Engineering Prof. Dr. Nargis Bibi, and Director Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) Dr. Hisham alongside senior university officials.
During the proceedings, Prof. Dr. Nargis Bibi delivered an exhaustive briefing detailing FJWU’s academic evolution, research milestones, and institutional achievements within the Institute of Computer Science and Engineering. She highlighted the ongoing undergraduate and postgraduate academic degree programs while showcasing award-winning AI and technology projects engineered by female students.
Highlighting the shared vision, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza categorized AI integration, digital empowerment and joint research as vital national imperatives. She remarked that the strategic partnership with an international organization like KOICA will unlock new growth avenues for faculty and students alike.
She emphasized that pooling institutional capabilities in AI, science, and modern technology will lay the foundation for a sustainable digital future that enables women across Pakistan to assume leadership roles in technology.
Following the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nargis guided the delegation through the Department of Computer Science, advanced AI laboratories, computing infrastructure and specialized research centers.
Commending FJWU’s academic environment, state-of-the-art facilities, and student research drive, KOICA representatives affirmed that the visit establishes a solid, practical framework for long-term collaboration in AI and technological advancement.
