Zhongshan Studio,  PTV sign second Five-Year cooperation agreement: A new chapter for China-Pakistan cultural exchange

BEIJING, Sep 3 (APP):Shaanxi Zhongshan Culture Media Co., Ltd. (Zhongshan Studio) and Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) formally signed the second five-year cooperation agreement in Islamabad.

The two sides will carry out in-depth cooperation through documentaries and factual-image productions. Using the camera as a bridge for civil-cultural dialogue, they will deepen China-Pakistan people-to-people exchanges, support cultural-building initiatives under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and advance civil-mutual learning under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), according to a Chinese news website here.

Muhammad Ramzan Ali, Director of the International Relations Division of PTV, signed the agreement on behalf of PTV Director-General, Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil. Senior officials from various departments of Pakistan Television Corporation attended the signing ceremony. Reviewing their long-standing sound cooperative foundation, both parties noted that multiple previously co-produced documentary works have been broadcast on PTV, vividly showcasing social landscapes and Silk-Road cultural heritage of both countries and winning wide acclaim from audiences of the two nations.

Under this new five-year cooperation framework, the two parties will continue to jointly develop and co-produce humanities-themed documentary projects, with priority given to Light and Common Journey, a major national foreign-publicity project. Joint creation will focus on China-Pakistan friendship, inheritance of Silk-Road civilizations, and regional connectivity within the SCO. Multi-faceted collaborative activities including film screenings, filmmaker exchanges, and archival-footage sharing will also be carried out.

A representative from Zhongshan Studio stated that China and Pakistan enjoy long-standing friendship linked by mountains and rivers, and documentary film making serves as a vivid medium for people-to-people communication. Gratitude was extended to all colleagues of PTV’s International Relations Division for their joint efforts to deliver this agreement. Going forward, the team will keep focusing on documentary creation, tell touching stories of China-Pakistan friendship, facilitate two-way cultural communication, and consolidate the foundation for people-to-people bonds.

The senior official from PTV International Relations Division remarked that China-Pakistan all-weather strategic friendship calls for sustained cultural and people-to-people interactions. It is expected that over the next five years, both sides will produce more high-quality co-produced documentaries, enabling Pakistani audiences to perceive a genuine, multi-dimensional contemporary China, while helping Chinese audiences better understand Pakistan’s historical heritage and modern-day development.

The renewal of this agreement marks a new phase of partnership between Zhongshan Studio and PTV, and lays a solid foundation for long-term people-driven film-and-television cooperation between China and Pakistan.
