ISLAMABAD, Sep 03 (APP):Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) organized a soul-stirring Naatia Mushaira to promote love and devotion for the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), appreciation of Seerat-e-Tayyaba, noble character and the Prophetic way of life.
The event aimed to foster among students a profound love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) while promoting Islamic values, traditions, cultural awareness and high moral and social standards.
The Naatia Mushaira was organized jointly by the Department of Urdu and AIOU FM Radio91.6. Renowned writer and poet Muhammad Izhar-ul-Haq presided over the Mushaira while Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr Syed Muhammad Amir Shah and renowned poet Akhtar Usman participated as chief guests. Prof. Dr Abdul Aziz Sahir and Arsh Hashmi were the guests of honour.
Renowned poets including Qayyum Tahir, Dr Kashif Irfan, Dr Qasim Yaqoob, Dr Abid Sial, Dr Shaza Akbar, Dr Asad Munir, Dr Junaid Azar, Riffaqat Razi, Farzand Ali Hashmi and Dr Arshad Mahmood Nashad along with other poets, presented beautiful Naatia poetry in praise and devotion to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Their heartfelt and devotional verses created a deeply spiritual atmosphere while the audience warmly appreciated and applauded the Naatia poetry.
Dr Mehnaz Anjum performed the duties of stage secretary. On the occasion, Chairperson, Department of Urdu Dr Arshad Mahmood Nashad delivered the welcome remarks and highlighted the objectives of the Mushaira.
He said that such blessed and spiritually uplifting gatherings are not only a beautiful means of expressing love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) but also play an important role in acquainting the younger generation with Seerat-e-Tayyaba and the universal messages of morality, tolerance, love, patience and humanity.
Addressing the gathering, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr Syed Muhammad Amir Shah said that with the blessed advent of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), light spread throughout humanity, the darkness of ignorance was dispelled and society moved from oppression and injustice towards justice, brotherhood and humanity.
He said that the Seerat-e-Tayyaba of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the best example for all humanity and that by following his teachings, it is possible to build a peaceful, tolerant and morally upright society.
Dr Amir Shah further said that alongside academic activities, the organization of literary, religious and cultural gatherings at universities is of great importance for the intellectual, moral and spiritual development of students.
The Naatia Mushaira is part of the continuing academic, literary, cultural and intellectual activities being carried out under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Nasir Mahmood. The university’s activities of this nature are aimed at providing students with quality education while also familiarizing them with knowledge and literature, religious values, moral development, tolerance, love and positive social attitudes enabling them to become responsible, well-rounded, and constructive members of society and play their role in its development and progress.
