SECP issues final notices in unity foods unusual trading probe

ISLAMABAD, Sep 02 (APP):The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has issued final notices to four individuals for recording their statements in an ongoing investigation into unusual trading activity in the shares of Unity Foods Limited.
The final notices have been issued to Muhammad Farrukh, Safdar Sajjad, Fehmida Amin and Hina Safdar, requiring them to appear in person before SECP’s investigation team at its Karachi office on September 3, 2026, said a press release issued by the SECP on Wednesday.
The four had earlier been summoned to appear on August 31 but, according to the notices, neither appeared nor requested rescheduling.
SECP initiated the formal investigation on June 2, 2026 under Section 139 of the Securities Act, 2015, to examine unusual trading activity in Unity Foods shares.
The investigation is examining trading in Unity Foods shares by the individuals concerned, while Muhammad Farrukh has specifically been directed to explain and provide supporting records relating to the pledging of Unity Foods shares with banks.
Safdar Sajjad, Fehmida Amin and Hina Safdar have been called for examination and recording of statements regarding their respective trading in Unity Foods shares.
The investigation follows SECP’s detection of potential issues relating to unusual trading in Unity Foods shares.
The Commission is examining the trading activity and related transactions to determine whether any violations of securities laws occurred.
The individuals have also been directed to bring relevant supporting documents and trading records when appearing before the investigation team.
