Acting President HCSTSI urges Govt to tighten wheat availability monitoring
HYDERABAD, Sep 02 (APP):Acting president Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) Ahmed Idrees Chohan, on Wednesday urged that the government to immediately tighten monitoring of wheat availability, supply chain and price trends in the market.
He said that it was necessary to take action against hoarding and bring illegally stopped wheat stocks to the market.
Representatives of the Flour Mills Association have also pointed out the need to bring wheat stocks to the market in phases and maintain price stability, said a press release issued here on Wednesday,
The prices of flour, wheat, milk, vegetables, fruits and other basic necessities should be continuously monitored by activating price control committees and implementation of the official price lists should be ensured.
The HCSTSI acting president said that the business community supported the government’s measures against illegal profiteering, hoarding and artificial shortages, however, a transparent, uniform and ground-based price control policy should be adopted while protecting the traders doing legitimate business from unnecessary harassment.
He said that it is also necessary to constantly review the difference between government wheat reserves, quotas provided to mills and open market prices.
