CM approves Rs1bn road schemes for Sargodha

SARGODHA, Sep 02 (APP):Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved eight major schemes for the construction, rehabilitation and improvement of roads in Sargodha district under the Own Source Revenue initiative, at an estimated cost of around Rs1 billion.

According to a press release issued by the DC Office, the approved schemes include the construction and rehabilitation of Dairy Road, Azad Road, New Urdu Bazaar Road, Grain Market Road, Pilot School Road and Ara Market Road, at an estimated cost of Rs175.79 million.

The rehabilitation of Khayam Chowk Overhead Bridge has also been approved at an estimated cost of Rs88.981 million.

Another scheme covers the rehabilitation of the road from Johar Colony Road to Fatima Jinnah Road via Gillwala Railway Crossing to Haripurah Bridge, at an estimated cost of Rs228.674 million.

The road from Shama Chowk to Stadium Gate and the link road to Cheema Heart Centre will be rehabilitated at an estimated cost of Rs164.645 million.

Similarly, the rehabilitation of Main Bazaar Bhagtanwala Road and the Lahore Road-Bhirowal-Kot Momin Link Road has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs127.715 million.

A scheme for the improvement and rehabilitation of Jail Road to Shahpur Saddar Road in Shahpur has also been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 98.888 million, while Rs 56.684 million will be spent on the rehabilitation of Farooka Road to Sial Dhulaka Road.

In addition, a beautification project for interchanges along Sial Mor Road has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs60 million.

Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry said the projects would significantly improve the district’s road infrastructure.

He said the rehabilitation of the roads would help improve traffic flow and provide citizens with safer and more comfortable travelling facilities.

The deputy commissioner added that completion of the schemes would improve transportation facilities in both urban and rural areas of Sargodha.
