LAHORE, Sep 01 (APP):Punjab police conducted 278 search and combing operations across the province during the last 24 hours, questioning 9,578 people and taking 31 suspects into custody, officials said on Tuesday.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, 98,895 search and combing operations have been conducted across the province during the current year. More than 3.352 million people have been questioned and 32,303 suspects taken into custody during the operations.
Police also recovered 2,238 pistols, 171 guns, 246 rifles and a large quantity of ammunition during the operations, the spokesperson said.
Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem has directed police to further intensify search, sweep and intelligence-based combing operations. He directed officials to regularly conduct searches at sensitive locations, educational institutions, bus terminals, hotels and inns.
The IGP also ordered action against elements involved in illegal activities and directed that they be dealt with in accordance with the law.
