Effective utilization of Transport Department land at Peshawar reviewed

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has initiated a review of possibilities for the effective utilization of valuable government land owned by the Transport Department at Peshawar Bus Terminal Lahore Adda, with the aim of serving public interest and improving provincial resources.

PESHAWAR, Sep 01 (APP): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has initiated a review of possibilities for the effective utilization of valuable government land owned by the Transport Department at Peshawar Bus Terminal Lahore Adda, with the aim of serving public interest and improving provincial resources.
In this regard, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Transport & Mass Transit Samiullah Khan and Advisor Finance Muzzammil Aslam on Tuesday visited Peshawar Bus Terminal Lahore Adda, where they inspected the terminal, vacant land surrounding the facility and sites of under-construction buildings.
Secretary Transport & Mass Transit Development Muhammad Zubair, Secretary Planning & Development Department Adil Shah, Director Transport Hassan Abid, Administrator Peshawar Bus Terminal and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
During the visit, the officials briefed the Special Assistant and Advisor Finance about the current status of Peshawar Bus Terminal, available facilities and details regarding the land owned by the Transport Department.
The government representatives were briefed that the Transport Department owns approximately 55 kanals of land within the premises of Peshawar Bus Terminal Lahore Adda, which includes the existing terminal area as well as additional land.
It was highlighted that, considering the strategic location and importance of this government asset, possibilities are being explored for its optimal, efficient and public-oriented utilization.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Assistant for Transport & Mass Transit Samiullah Khan said that the provincial government is committed to ensuring the productive use of government land in the larger public interest.
He emphasized that the valuable asset located at Peshawar Bus Terminal requires comprehensive planning so that it can provide improved public facilities while also contributing to the enhancement of provincial resources.
Advisor Finance Muzzammil Aslam stated that the effective utilization of government assets is an important component of sound financial management. He said that the land could be utilized for well-planned projects aimed at strengthening provincial resources. He added that due to its prime location, this valuable asset should be utilized effectively rather than remaining underutilized.
He further stated that state of the art facilities and projects could be developed on the land, which would not only provide better services to citizens but also create new avenues for revenue generation.
On the occasion, directions were issued to prepare comprehensive proposal regarding the effective utilization of the government land and also decided that a meeting of the Road Transport Board would be convened to place it on agenda and review all technical, financial and administrative aspects and determine the future course of action.
