PESHAWAR, Sep 01 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday underscored the need for ensuring equal opportunities and meaningful representation of women and minorities in the decision-making process, saying it was essential for social harmony, democratic stability and national development.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of the Minorities Rights Defender Forum, working under the Association of Women for Awareness and Motivation (AWAM), at the Governor House here.
The meeting discussed a range of issues, including minority rights, women empowerment, political representation, youth participation and social inclusion.
The delegation briefed the Governor on its initiatives aimed at promoting education and strengthening coordination between marginalized communities and state institutions.
The delegation also proposed greater representation of women and minorities in political and decision-making processes and suggested increasing the quota reserved for minorities to at least five percent.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said the Pakistan Peoples Party had always remained at the forefront of safeguarding the rights of minorities, women and other marginalized segments of society.
He said ensuring equal opportunities and effective participation of women and minorities in national affairs was vital for building an inclusive and progressive society.
The delegation appreciated the role of the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi in promoting and protecting the rights of minority communities.
