Rescue 1122 calls for extreme caution during monsoon rains

RAWALPINDI, Sep 01 (APP):Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi has urged citizens to exercise extreme caution during the ongoing monsoon rains and take necessary precautions to avoid accidents and emergencies.
Rescue officials advised parents to ensure that children do not go near Nallah Lai or electricity poles during rainfall.
Motorists were also urged to drive at reduced speeds and exercise extra caution on waterlogged roads.
Citizens living in low-lying areas have been advised to move to safer locations before urban flooding.
People should also avoid taking shelter under weak or dilapidated roofs during heavy rain and refrain from attempting to cross rivers, streams or other waterways.
In view of the risk of intense rainfall and cloudbursts, Rescue 1122 advised citizens to avoid visiting tourist destinations during severe weather conditions.
According to Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator, Muhammad Usman Gujjar, emergency personnel have been deployed along Nallah Lai and in low-lying areas to monitor the situation and respond to emergencies. Rescue teams have also been assigned in areas including Katarian, Gawalmandi and other vulnerable locations and are maintaining continuous duty during the rainfall.
Rescue officials said reports were received from several locations about people becoming stranded in floodwater. Rescue teams responded promptly and safely evacuated those trapped in the water.
Rescue 1122 urged citizens to immediately contact the Rescue Helpline 1122 in case of any emergency.
