DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Sep 01 (APP): Gomal University on Tuesday taken a major step towards digitalisation with the launch of a central data centre and 1LINK online fee payment service, aimed at modernising its administrative system and improving services for students and employees.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Niamatullah Babar formally inaugurated the Gomal Data Centre and 1LINK service at the university’s Directorate of IT. Registrar Imranullah Marwat, deans of various faculties, Controller of Examinations, Director IT Dr Muhammad Ejaz Khan and other officials and members of the IT team attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Babar said the establishment of the central data centre was an important step towards introducing the concept of one-window services at the university. The centre would enable data from different departments to be organised and secured through an integrated system and made available more efficiently when required.
He said the modern data management system would help streamline administrative affairs, improve decision-making and access to information, and enhance overall institutional performance.
The acting vice chancellor said the launch of 1LINK was another important facility for students as they would no longer have to visit banks to pay their university fees. The online payment facility would allow them to pay fees from home while also ensuring greater transparency, efficiency and financial oversight in the fee collection system.
He also announced that the university has introduced biometric attendance for employees from September 01, saying the system would bring greater transparency to attendance, promote punctuality and help improve administrative discipline.
Dr Babar appreciated Director IT Dr Muhammad Ejaz Khan and his team for completing the digital initiatives and said effective use of technology was essential to bringing the university in line with modern requirements and providing better services to students and employees.
The launch of the data centre, 1LINK service and biometric attendance system has been described as a significant milestone in the university’s efforts to develop an integrated, transparent and digitally enabled institution.
