Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore arrested 11 suspects, including seven passport office employees, three agents and a Punjab Police employee, during a raid on the Kasur Passport Office.

LAHORE, Sep 01 (APP): Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore arrested 11 suspects, including seven passport office employees, three agents and a Punjab Police employee, during a raid on the Kasur Passport Office.
An FIA spokesperson said on Tuesday that the arrested passport office employees were identified as Assistant Director Muhammad Waqas, UDC Shehzad, Data Entry Operator Muhammad Ilyas, sanitary staff member Ghulam Mustafa and three security guards.
A Punjab Police constable, Roheel, and three passport agents were also among those arrested.
According to the FIA, the suspects were allegedly involved in collecting illegal additional amounts from citizens for issuance of passports in connivance with one another.
The suspects allegedly lured citizens with assurances of getting their passports prepared on an urgent basis and charged them extra money, the spokesperson added.
Passports, tokens, bank challans, receipts and other evidence were recovered from the accused.
The FIA said the suspects had been taken into custody and investigation was underway, while raids were being conducted to arrest other individuals allegedly involved in the illegal activity.
