ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (APP):Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engr. Amir Muqam on Tuesday paid tribute to veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on his fifth death anniversary, praising his lifelong struggle for the rights of the Kashmiri people.
In his message, the federal minister described Syed Ali Geelani as a great Kashmiri leader who showed courage, patience and steadfastness in the face of Indian repression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Amir Muqam said the sacrifices of Syed Ali Geelani would continue to inspire Kashmiri youth in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
He said the slogan, “We are Pakistani; Kashmir will become Pakistan,” reflected the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued political and diplomatic support for the Kashmir cause.
The federal minister also urged the United Nations to take notice of human rights violations and atrocities in IIOJK and play its role in ensuring the Kashmiri people’s legitimate right to self-determination.
