Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory amid continuing heavy rain in the federal capital, urging motorists to allow extra travel time, reduce speed and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles as water accumulation could slow traffic on different roads.

ISLAMABAD, Sep 01 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) on Tuesday issued a traffic advisory amid continuing heavy rain in the federal capital, urging motorists to allow extra travel time, reduce speed and maintain a safe distance from other vehicles as water accumulation could slow traffic on different roads.
An ITP official told APP that traffic police personnel had been deployed on roads to facilitate motorists and provide guidance during the rainy weather.
The advisory said drivers should keep their vehicles at a slow and controlled speed during rain and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to avoid accidents.
Motorists were advised to use fog lights during poor visibility and remain in their designated lanes.
ITP also urged drivers to properly use side mirrors and indicators and ensure that seat belts were fastened while travelling.
Motorcyclists were advised to use the extreme left lane, keep their speed under control and wear helmets for their safety.
The traffic police said water accumulation on some roads could affect the normal flow of traffic and advised citizens to plan their journeys accordingly and leave home with extra time in hand.
ITP officers would remain present on roads to facilitate citizens and help maintain smooth traffic flow during the rainfall.
