PSX loses over 720 points

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned bearish on Monday, losing 720.83 points, a negative change of 0.41 percent, to close at 176,975.68 points against 177,696.51 points recorded in the previous trading session.

ISLAMABAD, Aug 31 (APP): The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) turned bearish on Monday, losing 720.83 points, a negative change of 0.41 percent, to close at 176,975.68 points against 177,696.51 points recorded in the previous trading session.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 937.270 million shares, compared to 658.327 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value surged to Rs39.134 billion from Rs31.454 billion. Market capitalisation decreased to Rs19.830 trillion from Rs19.885 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 503 companies that traded in the ready market, 169 posted gains, 302 suffered losses, while 32 remained unchanged, reflecting a downward trend in the market.
Cnergyico PK led the volume chart with 293.181 million shares, followed by Waves Home (R) with 71.228 million shares and Bank of Punjab with 52.290 million shares.
Among the top gainers, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited surged by Rs143.62 to close at Rs25,674.98, while Attock Refinery Limited advanced by Rs93.41 to settle at Rs1,197.49.
On the losing side, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited declined by Rs49.89 to close at Rs9,250.11, while Nestle Pakistan Limited fell by Rs47.45 to Rs7,473.54.
In the futures (DFC) market, turnover stood at 238.374 million shares with a traded value of Rs11.702 billion, compared with 859.712 million shares worth Rs34.758 billion in the previous session.
Of the 305 companies traded in the DFC market, 123 advanced, 175 declined and 7 remained unchanged.
