Health authorities recover over 124,000 larvae in major anti-dengue crackdown as total cases remain at six

RAWALPINDI, Aug 31 (APP):District Health Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi has registered 1,973 FIRs, sealed 537 premises and recovered 1,24,341 larvae during an extensive vector-control operation across high-risk hotspots, maintaining the total confirmed dengue cases at six with zero fatalities so far the year.

The latest statistical brief released by the health authorities shows a sharp decline in transmission with zero confirmed infections in August following four cases reported in July across Dhoke Hassu Janobi, CTR-15, Kotha Kallan and Kountrila.

Out of 3,450 individuals screened across the district, three patients remain admitted in municipal health facilities whereas no patient classified as active confirmed case.

According to the brief, a field force of 1,400 surveillance teams comprising 415 outdoor and 985 indoor personnel achieved 100 % coverage of registered hotspots over the past week. Surveillance teams audited over 4.2 million residential premises and 1.4 million outdoor locations, identifying 106,993 positive houses.

The highest larva detection rates were recorded in Union Council Girja, Gulistan Colony and Rahimabad with significant presence also detected in Dhoke Hassu, UC Morgah, Dhoke Mangtal, UC Kulyal, Kamalabad, Dheri Hasanabad, Chak Jalaldin and UC Chaklala.

Enforcing anti-dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs), authorities issued 1,778 challans and imposed Rs. 2.124 million in fines on violators creating potential mosquito breeding sites.

Moreover, 29 District Emergency Response Committee (DERC) and 97 Tehsil Emergency Response Committee (TERC) meetings held this year to streamline vector-control protocols across the district.
